Bellflower

Welcome to Bellflower

A haven of small-town vibes near Los Angeles

In the 1780s, Bellflower was one of the state's first Spanish land grants, eventually becoming a successful livestock and agricultural ranch in the 1800s. During the 2000s, agricultural expansion, combined with economic growth, quadrupled the city’s population, resulting in the establishment of new schools, churches, and businesses. Now, it is a bustling Californian city with a population of over 79,000 people. The city’s architectural style has evolved as well. Bellflower's buildings and homes, which were once covered with fiberglass, aluminum, and stucco exteriors, are now built in various architectural styles ranging from bungalow and craftsman to cottage and ranch.

There are numerous places to visit and activities to enjoy in Bellflower. The city is approximately 20 miles from Los Angeles, meaning the many attractions of a major metropolitan area are nearby. Thanks to the city's proximity to tourist destinations such as Disneyland and Universal Studios, many locals spend their weekends and holidays there. However, residents don’t have to go very far to have fun.

Throughout the year, Bellflower hosts various events such as the Tree Lighting Ceremony, Movie Nights, and Summer Streetfest. Bellflower is known for its high walkability score, which means many restaurants, schools, stores, and coffee shops are nearby. There are also many parks to visit, including Ruth R. Caruthers Park, Simms Park, and Pirate Park, designed specifically for young children, with pirate paintings and playground equipment. Bellflower offers the ideal combination of big-city living and a small-town feel.

Because of the city's central location, it is easy to find nearby exquisite dining. Spaghettini, which serves Northern Italian classics accompanied by live contemporary jazz, is a good option for private dining or a three-course special. L'Opera Italian Restaurant, less than 15 miles from Bellflower, also serves Northern Italian cuisine in an elegant setting.

Mayne Thompson Park, a large municipal park with a fitness area, an indoor and outdoor pool, basketball courts, a playground, and baseball fields, is a great place to exercise. If you want to learn more about the county, you can visit the Los Angeles County Fire Museum, a public museum that discusses the Los Angeles County Fire Department's history. The museum houses 60 fire engines, with some dating back to the 1860s.
